The Communications & Information Technology Services Team is seeking one (1) motivated GIS Summer Student for the 2026 summer season.
What YOU’RE Responsible for:
Reporting to the GIS & Data Analytics Lead this person will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
- Updating, editing and maintaining municipal GIS datasets using ESRI software
- Assisting in ensuring data consistency, accuracy, metadata and compliance with corporate standards
- Creating high-quality mapping and spatial data products
- Supporting data cleaning, validation, and preparation for analysis and reporting
- Supporting asset management efforts through data updates and verification
- Creating and updating web maps, experience builder apps, dashboards, and web layers using ArcGIS Online/Enterprise
- Assisting in documenting workflows and procedures
- Converting CADD data to various GIS file formats
- Communicating effectively and work as part of a team
- Multi-tasking and prioritizing the workload efficiently with minimal supervision
- Adhering to all safety standards and promote Beaumont’s health and safety program
- Providing administrative support and other duties required
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary Geographic Information System (GIS) program and (a) Be registered in a co-op work term that aligns with the term of this role or (b) Be enrolled in a program where a work term is required to graduate. In either case, you must be able to provide documentation and confirm you would be returning to school after the program.
- Experience with ESRI ArcGIS suite of products (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise and Enterprise Geodatabase) and FME
- Experience working with data collection apps or survey equipment
- Understanding of spatial data concepts, coordinate systems and cartographic principles
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Willingness to learn on the job and take on new challenges
- Provide a clear Criminal Record Check
- An hourly rate of $25.08
- A 4-month term (anticipated to be from May 11, 2026, to August 31, 2026, but subject to change)
- Up to a 35-hour work week (Monday – Friday)
- Membership to the Beaumont Sport and Recreation Centre
