Responsibilities and Activities:
Strategic Management
- Lead project engagement processes including scoping, timeline development, resource planning, implementation, and risk management.
- Develop, review, and maintain technology directives to ensure alignment with industry best practices and relevant privacy legislation through research and jurisdictional scans.
- Manage cross-functional teams to achieve program or project goals aligned with the organization’s vision and values.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for vendors, managing expectations and resolving issues independently.
- Identify areas for improvement and proactively implement innovative, practical solutions.
- Champion and clearly communicate initiatives aligned with the organization’s IT strategic plan.
- Collaborate with departments to implement IT strategies that support both current and future organizational needs.
- Support infrastructure planning and implementation, including new additions, decommissions, and major modifications to meet evolving needs.
- Lead the development and execution of information security strategies and oversee the security framework.
- Recommend and support activities to maintain established network security.
- Support the administration of the organization's Wide Area Network (WAN).
- Oversee system troubleshooting, backups, archiving, and disaster recovery efforts, offering expert-level support when needed.
- Compile and analyze monthly help desk data and provide regular reports to the Director.
- Oversee internal team members and service providers to ensure prompt and effective issue resolution.
- Monitor and manage Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for all open tickets.
- Act as a point of escalation for internal clients, ensuring timely resolution of IT-related concerns.
- Build and maintain relationships with vendors; support hardware and software procurement processes.
- Maintain accurate records of technology hardware, software, and related resources.
- Establish and manage a full asset lifecycle inventory and budgeting process for IT equipment.
- Set performance goals, monitor progress, and conduct evaluations for IT staff.
- Promote continuous learning and professional development for staff and self to enhance service delivery.
- Inspire and support team members in achieving departmental goals and resolving challenges.
- Coach and mentor staff to foster positive morale and operational effectiveness.
- Manage workflow, resource allocation, recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance of IT personnel.
- Direct contract-based IT resources and ensure productive engagement.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders—developers, project managers, business units—to implement scalable, effective technology solutions.
- Responsible for implementing and managing the Safety Management System (SMS) within the IT department.
- Actively involved in addressing both proactive and reactive safety matters.
- Demonstrate understanding of employee safety responsibilities and participate in the organization’s SMS program.
- Initiate and oversee corrective action plans based on hazard reports, PCARs (Preventative/Corrective Action Requests), or audit findings.
- Foster team-wide engagement in health and safety practices.
The Manager, Information Technology plays a key role in shaping the planning, growth, and maintenance of digital infrastructure and assets. This role is responsible for:
- Developing and maintaining the Information Systems operational framework, including the creation of initiatives and annual operational plans.
- Managing the design, implementation, and maintenance of Information Systems and services.
- Monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on ongoing IT projects, governance, and operations.
- Identifying potential IT risks and leading the development and implementation of mitigation strategies.
- Developing and overseeing information security strategies and frameworks.
- Establishing a security program that addresses identified risks and business information security needs.
- Leading incident response activities to ensure effective resolution, including network development, training, guidance, tools, and reporting.
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Computer Science, along with advanced technical/managerial certifications (e.g., CRISC, PMP, CISSP, CISM, CAPM, MCSE, CGEIT, Certified Electronics Technician, CES in Canada).
- Minimum 7+ years of relevant experience in technology, with strong background in strategy, design, and team leadership.
- At least two (2) years of direct supervisory experience.
- Proven track record in project management and implementing technology solutions aligned with strategic plans.
- Experience in system design and development lifecycles, from requirements gathering through implementation and maintenance.
- Solid background in network management, computer hardware, software applications, web solutions, and database/reporting tools.
- Proficiency in computer networks, security, and troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of technologies such as Windows Server, Active Directory, CITRIX, SharePoint, Microsoft Office, Exchange Server, MS-SQL, and Azure or AWS.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and internet applications.
- Strong project management, risk management, and decision-making skills.
- Experience in cybersecurity, control structures, and IT internal controls.
- Knowledge and hands-on experience with hardware, software, and network lifecycle maintenance.
- Procurement and contract management experience.
- Awareness of current trends in Information Technology.
- A salary range of $106,433.60 - $138,902.40 per annum (based on experience and qualifications)
