The Legal and Legislative Services department is seeking one (1) motivated LLS Summer Student for the 2026 summer season.
What YOU’RE Responsible for:
Reporting to the Manager, Legislative Services and City Clerk this person will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
- Greet and assist visitors in a friendly and professional manner
- Maintain a clean and organized reception area
- Provide general information about services and programs
- Direct residents to appropriate staff or departments
- Answer incoming phone calls promptly and professionally
- Respond to inquiries or route calls to the appropriate person/department
- Take accurate messages and ensure timely follow-up
- Accept and process payments (cash, debit, credit) accurately
- Issue receipts and maintain transaction records
- Balance daily payments and report discrepancies
- Perform opening and closing duties for till and POS system
- Listen to customer concerns and respond with patience and professionalism
- Resolve basic complaints and escalate complex issues as needed
- Maintain a calm and respectful demeanor in difficult situations
- Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, scanning, and emailing
- Provide general support to staff and assist with departmental coverage as required
- Adhere to all safety standards
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program (Business or related field preferred)
- Previous customer service experience is required
- Experience handling cash and using point-of-sale (POS) systems is considered an asset
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to multitask and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment
- Professional, courteous, and customer-focused attitude
- Willingness to learn and take on new challenges
- Ability to provide a clear Criminal Record Check
- An hourly rate of $25.08
- A 4-month term (anticipated to be from May 2026 to August 31, 2026, but subject to change)
- Up to a 35-hour work week (Monday – Friday)
- Membership to the Beaumont Sport and Recreation Centre

- Due to operational requirements, this position provides coverage during peak summer vacation periods. Availability during the summer months (June–August) is required to support service delivery.
